Dr Raymond Madden, CEO, Asian Institute of Finance, recently attended the Global Symposium on Innovative Financial Inclusion at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur on 21 – 22 September 2016. The event was co-organised by the World Bank and Bank Negara Malaysia.
The symposium theme, “Harnessing Innovation for Inclusive Finance”, conveyed the vision for innovative financial inclusion initiatives such as financial knowledge and technical support to be disseminated and scaled up globally to 25 focus countries in a responsible and sustainable manner. These countries are where 73% of the world’s population live.
The symposium featured over 50 speakers and panellists who examined the latest trends in innovations for lending and savings, payments and insurance and how these innovations help accelerate financial inclusion and bridge the gap to the 2 billion unbanked adults in the world.
